He was the 2008 Libertarian Party (LP) vice-presidential nominee. Root is the author of 9 books. His last book, "The Ultimate Obama Survival Guide" opened up on April 15th, 2013 as #1 political hardcover book in bookstores (according to BookScan, the book industry source). It stayed in the Top 5 of political bestsellers in bookstores for 10 consecutive weeks. It also hit #1 of all political and economic bestsellers at Amazon for several weeks.
